It's a long one and a bit disorganized as I am looking for the hair I pulled out today please bear with me...
I am receiving the error "Network did not complete in a reasonable amount of time....". This error always comes from Lotus Script agents that are sending mail.
I have tried the Notes.ini suggestion located in this forum. I have even tried settings of 100, 1000, 2000 & 5000 for the timeout. NONE of these are solving the problem.
It seems to me that there is a major problem with Domino's ablility to send via custom Lotus Script agents. Even worse would be the fact that domino seems to have a problem talking to itself. To confound the problem further there is no pattern to the problem. Sometimes it fails on a msg less than 10k sometimes it fails on a msg 1mb & sometimes it doesn't fail at all regarless of the size.
I have engineered a catch for these email's & a second chance send using a mail send agent which is not lotus script. I have yet to experience the problem with the simple mail send agent. Additional info would be that it fails when sending outside of the system (IE. sending to user@microsoft.com).
We have (2 CPU 3ghz w/HT - Win2003 - 2gb Ram) 2 mail.box files and logged about 6k emails sent thru the system in the last 3 days. The problem is that from outlook (send thru server) or from the notes client (send thru server) email has never failed to be sent. From a Lotus Script agent however, there is a definate problem. I have searched and searched and can not find a definate solution to this. There are MANY MANY posts regarding this issue in several of these forums. Does anyone know exactly WHY this happens and under what conditions.
Unfortuantly, this is the kind of problem that causes corporations like mine to look for other options. I will be forced to migrate my application it's 10k users and all the other companies who are running our software on a Domino server to something else. Which I obviously don't want to have to do.
